The McLaren Vale is one of the best wine regions of South Australia wine situated 35 km south of Adelaide area and internationally famed for its powerful red wines. Named after the well-known preacher and immigration manager David McLaren with wines predominantly made from the renowned Shiraz and some plantings from Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache and Mouvèdre and for the whites Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. The climate is warm and dry with long warm days and short cool night due to the nearby ocean, which results in outstanding wines with great ageing potential.
